Last week after a grueling hot day of tennis, I went home, took a shower and went to get me some pho. Yeah… that’s right, 93 degrees in LA and I went to get pho. There’s just something about sweating the morning off that makes me just want to relax in a nicely air conditioned restaurant with a hot, steamy, yummie bowl of pho. I’m weird.. what can I say?

Anyway, right as my bowl arrived, a lady at the table beside me was exclaiming that she didn’t know you were suppose to eat the boba at the bottom of her cup! I smiled at her… recalling how weird I thought those dark tapioca balls looked when I first saw the now common-place drink. She explained that she thought they were some type of hard caramel (?) and that they were added for flavor. I shook my head and told her that it did take some time to get used to, but that they were actually pretty tasty. She smiled and said, “That’s what life is for.. trying new things!” I smiled back to which she replied… “You have a spectacular smile!” I almost responded with, “You too!” since I didn’t expect her to say that. I thought she was going to say, “You have a spectacular day now!” I have no idea why. I just did.

I was so caught off guard by her compliment that I was barely able to mutter back an embarassed “Thanks.”

In any case, it’s nice to receive compliments from people :)
