He’s sometimes also known as the loud gunner in law school.

I don’t usually talk about people in my class, but this time I can’t help it. This semester, I was lucky enough to have four of my five classes with one of the most obnoxious guys I’ve ever met. I’m sure you all know someone like him… you know, he’s that guy who uses “ergo,” “such that,” and “therefore” in everyday conversation. He’s the guy who thinks he knows it all and flaunts it in your face. He’s the guy who judges what he doesn’t know… belittles the quiet and the shy… and he’s the one who doesn’t know when to shut up.

Let’s call him J.

Classes with him in it sometimes feel like the whole class is observing what can only be described as office hours with J and the professor. It’s maddening trying to restrain myself from smacking him in the head everyday.

Yes, everyday.

I’m usually pretty intolerant of people like him and although I never directly attack, I make it painfully clear that I don’t like them and I don’t like being around them.

However, I figure I should try and use this semester as a trial. Instead of letting him drive me crazy… I’m just going try and let it slide off my back. Afterall, I’m pretty sure I’ll be encountering more people like him in the working world. I can’t always let them get the best of me, right?

I’m not sure if I’ll be successful, but at least I can say I tried =)

Three things I’m grateful for today
1. strong coffee
2. supportive friends at Chapman
3. tolerance
